Cleanhub Secures $7M to Safeguard Oceans from Plastic

With new funding, Cleanhub appoints Louis Pfitzner as co-CEO to drive growth and revenue

Berlin-based ocean cleanup platform Cleanhub has secured $7 million in a recent funding round, led by existing investor Lakestar and new supporter Integra Partners. The company aims to tackle the pressing issue of plastic pollution in oceans by connecting brands with local collection partners in developing countries. Alongside the funding, Cleanhub welcomes Louis Pfitzner as Co-CEO to drive growth strategies and revenue generation efforts.

Cleanhub, the Berlin-based ocean cleanup organizing platform, has successfully raised $7 million in its latest funding round. The round was led by Lakestar, an existing investor, and joined by Integra Partners, a new backer. Notable participants included Silence VC, 468, Übermorgen Ventures, Felicis Ventures Partner Dan Bartus, and BCG X's Managing Director and Senior Partner Stefan Gross-Selbeck.

As part of this funding round, Cleanhub has appointed Louis Pfitzner as Co-CEO. Pfitzner brings valuable experience as the former co-founder of Salonmeister, a SaaS-enabled marketplace for hair & beauty appointments (acquired by Treatwell). He also served as co-Managing Director and co-founder of Caya, a platform for documents management, automation, and collaboration. In his new role, Pfitzner will oversee the commercial aspects of Cleanhub's business, focusing on growth strategies and revenue generation.

Cleanhub, founded in January 2020 by Bosse Rothe, Joel Tasche, and Florin Dinga, acts as a crucial link between brands and local collection partners in coastal regions of developing countries. By leveraging a track and trace process, the platform enables companies to measure and verify the positive environmental impact of neutralizing their plastic emissions. Over 250 brands, including Noughty, Yamo, everdrop, Only One, and Mövenpick, trust Cleanhub to address their plastic waste concerns.

Cleanhub's successful funding round, led by Lakestar and Integra Partners, marks a significant milestone in the fight against ocean plastic pollution. With Louis Pfitzner joining as Co-CEO, Cleanhub is well-positioned to drive its mission forward, connecting brands with local collection partners and empowering businesses to make a positive environmental impact. By bridging waste management gaps and catering to the demands of eco-conscious consumers, Cleanhub strives for a cleaner, healthier world.
