Canadian Judge Issues Arrest Warrant for Crypto Scam Accomplice

Ontario judge has cast the legal net over Ryan Rumble a collaborator of Canada's audacious "crypto-king" Aiden Pleterski

In a gripping turn of events, an Ontario judge has issued an arrest warrant for Ryan Rumble, a close associate of the self-proclaimed "crypto-king" Aiden Pleterski, embroiled in an extensive crypto investment scam spanning several years.

The dramatic development comes in response to a class-action lawsuit filed earlier this year, alleging that Rumble's investment management firm, Banknote Capital, played a pivotal role in channeling a substantial portion of the $14 million raised from investors into Pleterski's fraudulent scheme. Ignoring a court order earlier this month to surrender his passport by December 1, Rumble now finds himself at the center of a legal maelstrom.

During a virtual court appearance on Thursday, Rumble asserted his innocence, framing the lawsuit against him as a "civil matter." Claiming current residence in Dubai, his true whereabouts remain shrouded in mystery.

As the first among Pleterski's associates to face an arrest warrant, Rumble is treading on thin ice. The Canadian Border Services Association stands ready to confiscate his passport and hand him over to the authorities if he attempts to cross a Canadian border. Simultaneously, local police in Chatham, his alleged residence, are poised to arrest him if found.

Emily Hime, the lead plaintiff in the lawsuit against Rumble, expressed relief at the issuance of the arrest warrant, emphasizing its significance in preventing Rumble from evading justice akin to Pleterski. Hime remarked, "Our fear would be that he’s over there and he’s dissipating assets."

The unfolding saga traces back to Aiden Pleterski, accused of orchestrating a Ponzi scheme that allegedly pilfered between $40 million and $100 million from unsuspecting investors. The scheme promised lucrative returns through crypto market trading but, in reality, only a fraction of the funds was allocated to crypto investments, with the majority squandered on opulent lifestyles.

Pleterski's notoriety reached a peak when he was abducted for three days, beaten, and forced to apologize on camera by his captors, who demanded a $3 million ransom. Facing civil charges rather than criminal ones, Pleterski has triggered bankruptcy proceedings as investors strive to recover their losses running into millions. The arrest warrant for Rumble marks a pivotal moment in the pursuit of justice, injecting a sense of accountability into a narrative that has gripped the crypto community.
